What will your before & after photo look like?
“

I had piled on weight after having my son. I wanted to lose the weight I had gained but I felt extremely overwhelmed. I was scared to start the gym on my own as I had no clue where to start.

For months I didn’t want to go out and I could only wear certain clothes that hid the fat bits. I would use apps to edit myself much skinnier to compare the two. I felt awful.

I have now been working with Scott for around 8 months and I have never felt better.

I’m a whole size smaller than I have ever been! I’m not worried about covering up when buying clothes and I have so much more energy. It allows me some me time and I actually look forward to going to the gym.

    FAQs

Can I be too out of shape for Personal Training?

Absolutely not. When I first started I used to do tours and inductions in the gym I work from and a piece of feedback I heard constantly was that people wanted to “get in better shape first” before attending a class or seeking help from a Personal Trainer.

I understand it. Gyms, classes and their trainers can be intimidating. There’s a fear of being judged and this is where this stems from coupled with the image many people have of a PT being a 1-1 boot camp instructor who is just there to help you achieve beast mode for a couple of hours each week. This is not the case.

Training will be tailored to your own individual ability levels. This isn’t a promise it will be easy but it won’t be anything at all beyond your capabilities.

What type of training will I be doing?

The training I specifically prescribe in the gym is resistance based. That could mean a wide variety of things, ranging from bodyweight to barbells.

It is always 100% tailored towards the individual with my two main goals in no particular order being to make it both enjoyable and effective. If you don’t get both of these things you are compromising your chances of success.

How many PT sessions per week should I do?

A question I am commonly asked at consultations. This really depends on a number of factors such as accessibility, ability levels, goals etc.

The best answer I can give without knowing these details is that I will always be very honest about how to line up what you want with what you need providing you with all the relevant information. This way you can then make the final decision about what’s best for you.

    What does online coaching involve?

A basic way to look at this is it’s like 1-1 PT minus the 1-1 sessions. Fully tailored and comprehensive plans encompassing training and diet will be provided along with weekly ‘check-ins’ for accountability.

Check-ins are largely via email but we may schedule phone calls to address anything in more detail. These check-ins are used to gauge progress, highlight possible issues and provide feedback with any advice, changes and/or adjustments I believe would be beneficial.

You will also have constant access to me through the week to troubleshoot any issues that arise or simply to ask for some general advice on anything related to your goals.

Who can benefit from online coaching?

Online coaching is a great option for anyone who is unable to access the gym I work from. It is great for those who have some experience of training but are looking for the guidance, structure, support and accountability of an experienced Personal Trainer in pursuit of their fitness goals.

    Can I train from home?

I only provide 1-1 sessions out of the Pure Gym on Bath Street in Glasgow city centre but I have successfully worked with a number of clients on an online basis who wanted to exercise from home with access to minimal equipment.

I will always be completely honest regarding whether or not this will allow you to achieve your goals as it’s not necessarily going to be completely effective for everyone in every situation.

How will you keep me accountable?

Having someone to be accountable to can be a major advantage when chasing a fitness goal. Accountability is an important part of what I do and outside of the gym, it is provided via ‘check-ins’ which might be informal check-ins over text as frequently as is required but will certainly at least entail a weekly email.

This provides me with the necessary feedback regarding how your week has been, any progress measurements, any issues encountered, any advice/recommendations or changes I’d advise for the week ahead.
